In November 2007 the Management Development Institute, Missouri State University was granted an associate membership to develop a CPM program in Missouri. There is only one membership granted in each state by the National Certified Public Manager® Consortium.
This program is designed to help refine and improve the management skills of today's emerging leaders in state, local government, and non-profit agencies so that they can serve their fellow Missourians at the highest level possible. Management in the public sector is very unique in comparison to management in the business sector. The CPM program will meet the needs of our public sector managers.
Phase I Management Academy - June 11-14, 2012

Phase II CPM Program - Summer 2012

The Certified Public Manager® designation is recognized in over 40 states and the District of Columbia as being the premier designation for governmental managers. It shows that you are dedicated to your position and are professionally equipped to better handle the roles required of mid and upper level governmental staff and elected officials.
Graduates of the Missouri accredited CPM program will be eligible to form a state CPM society and to become members of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers. The Academy web site is www.cpmacademy.org.
Why is education for public managers so important?
To maintain the public trust so citizens can be confident in the ability of government leaders to do their job;
To ensure that work is completed as efficiently and effectively as possible;
To ensure that the most qualified individuals are in management positions;
To keep managers abreast of changes in technology;
To help managers better understand, communicate with, and lead the people they manage;
To meet society's emphasis on the accountability of government leaders.
