Affiliated with Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri, for more than 25 years, Sherry Cook teaches in the Marketing Department, primarily in the Advertising/Promotions and personal promotion areas.
Involved in all aspects of community life, she was named one of the Twenty Most Influential Women by Springfield Business Journal in 2005 and was nominated in 2008 for a Missouri Women and Innovation award.
She was president of the Junior League of Springfield-1999-2000 and a member of Leadership Springfield’s Class 14. She has worked with virtually all the major non-profits throughout the area with marketing, strategic planning, and board development. She also serves as a college relations consultant to Meek’s Building Centers, a large regional building materials chain.
In addition, she is a co-author and managing partner of a curriculum development company which creates, sells, and distributes a children’s science/literacy series entitled the Quirkles®. This is marketed and distributed through the U.S. The series, now in its fifth year, is in its third reprint with more than 120,000 books/products in the market.
When not dividing time between university work, the Quirkles®, consulting, and community projects, Sherry loves to travel (recently to Africa, along with a teaching stint in China), cook, collect wine, garden, watch sports, and read. You’ll also find her spending as much time as possible with her family—husband Dennis and children Michael and Lauren, now college students at Drury University, Springfield, and DePaul University, Chicago. And when they aren’t around, there’s always Mocha and Chai the cats and Charlie and Molly the dogs to keep her company.
