About the PHR & SPHR Exam Review Course:
Certification is vital to maintaining the high standards of the human resources profession. It also demonstrates that you have mastered the human resources body of knowledge and have accepted the personal challenge to stay abreast in the field.
The Management Development Institute will again offer a review course to assist in preparation for the national exam. The review course will incorporate the information that forms the base of the national test. We update the content for each review class incorporating all new regulations and current trends.
The PHR/SPHR Exam Review Course was initiated by the Management Development Institute in 1990. We have helped over 250 human resource professionals prepare for the exam.
This course will be offered on Wednesday evenings for 12 weeks (skipping the week of March 18):
Section 1 – February 12 & 19, 2020 – Strategic Management Practices
Section 2 – February 26 & March 4, 2020 – Human Resources Development
Section 3 – March 11 & 25, 2020 – Employee and Labor Relations
Section 4 – April 1 & 8, 2020 – Risk Management
Section 5 – April 15 & 22, 2020 – Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits
Section 6 – April 29 & May 6, 2020 – Workforce Planning & Employment
Section 7 – May 13, 2020 – Extra SPHR review session
The PHR/SPHR Exam Review Course is led by Glenn Pace, GPHR. Glenn has tremendous knowledge to share and over 20 years of experience in human resource management with Zenith, Solid State Circuits and Springfield Public Schools. Glenn has established a great reputation for delivering outstanding training.

A separate fee is required for taking the exam and is paid to HRCI. MDI does not conduct the examinations and is not the certifying organization.
Difference Between the PHR and SPHR:
The PHR exam will focus on the technical and operational aspects of HR, whereas the SPHR exam is generally considered more strategic and policy oriented, and requires more in-depth general management and HR management practice knowledge. Although the eligibility requirements are the same, HRCI still strongly recommends that candidates attempting the PHR exam have 2-4 years of HR exempt-level experience, and candidates attempting the SPHR examination have 6-8 years of HR exempt-level experience.

SPHR Exam Review participants meet for an additional 3 hours of instruction time for a 13th week of the program.
